Match facts

  • Man United have never won back-to-back FA Cup titles, and will need to beat Chelsea if they wish to retain the crown.
  • The Red Devils have won seven of their last nine FA Cup meetings with the Blues.
  • However, the London giants emerged triumphant in their last two encounters – in 2007 and 2013.
  • Chelsea have not lost to the 20-time Premier League champions since October 2012 – an 11-game unbeaten run (W6, D5).
  • Mourinho has only lost twice in six meetings with clubs he previously managed.
  • Unfortunately, one of those defeats came against Conte’s side, losing 4-0.

Team news

Both Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on victory, but the odds favor the home side and not the travelers. The first thing that backs the London giants is form – the Blues are currently unstoppable with their 10-point lead in the league.

However, the more alarming issue is squad selection. Antonio Conte has a full-fit squad to choose from, and can name a strong starting eleven as the Premier League is their only other commitment.

The same can’t be said for Mourinho’s side. The Red Devils will be without top-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede was slapped with three-match ban for elbowing Tyrone Mings, with his suspension beginning in Monday’s game.

But it gets worse for Man United, as they have no other senior striker to rely on. Wayne Rooney picked up an injury during training after receiving a tough challenge from Phil Jones. Anthony Martial is also unavailable due to injury, whilst Marcus Rashford is out due to illness.

Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly are back in contention for Man United. Bastian Schweinsteiger is unlikely to make a rare appearance, as the German is an injury doubt.
