Victory is important for both clubs, as Liverpool and Arsenal hold deep aspiration for a top-four finish. Failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League will be costly for both sides.
Unfortunately, both sides have key players sidelined through injury – Liverpool’s one being more alarming. The home side will be without captain Jordan Henderson for this tie.
The English midfielder continues his recovery from a foot injury. The last game he missed for Liverpool was their clash with Leicester, which they lost 3-1.
Dejan Lovren is in contention for a starting eleven berth, having overcome his knee injury. Sturridge, on the other hand, will sit this one out due to a hip muscle strain.
Arsenal also have two absentees. The first is playmaker Santi Cazorla, with no return date in sight. The other is Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who is out with an ankle injury.
