Manchester United have been advised to raid their city neighbours for a striker in the summer of they fail to get Griezmann.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has revealed the player the club should sign should they fail to land the services of Antoine Griezmann in the summer. The legendary player told the Daily Mail that Manchester City's Sergio Aguero would be a good signing just in case they do fail to get the signature of their No. 1 target Griezmann. He said:

''They’re (Man Utd) only a couple of players away. I would bring in a controlling midfield player.

''A centre forward to help [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic. Griezmann – or Aguero wouldn’t be bad!

'‘We’ll have to see defensively when they play Tottenham, City, Chelsea and Arsenal. That will determine whether he needs a centre half. Right back, left back not a problem.

''Goalkeeper not a problem, unless Real Madrid want him [David De Gea].''

Scholes joined the red devils in 1993 and left in 2013, having scored 155 goals in 718 games for the Old Trafford club. He now works as a football pundit for BT Sport, and is also the owner of Salford City FC.

Despite his numerous injury problems, Aguero has already scored 15 goals for the Citizens this season. He has been previously linked with a return to Atletico Madrid if Griezmann leaves, and that still remains as the most probable option.
