The bitter-sweet love story between Sergio Aguero and Manchester City could end at the end of the season.

Manchester City could sell their start striker Sergio Aguero over the summer, according to a report by Duncan Castles. The Argentine is the club's top goal scorer with 18 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions this season, but that may not stop the Citizens from getting rid of him. The Premier League outfit have received a major boost thanks to the availability of Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus, a clear indication that Aguero's days at Etihad are numbered.

The former Atletico Madrid forward is prone to injuries and this factor could hinder Pep's long-term plans for the club. Aguero is yet to make more than 31 Premier League stats in one season, his average being 26 starts per season. For Pep Guardiola to effectively transform City to serious title-contenders like they were some few seasons ago, then he will have to get rid of such highly-paid injury-prone stars, according to the report.

Another factor that seems to put the Spanish tactician off is Aguero's discplinary record at the club. He has so far missed six games since Pep's arrival at Etihad and it is during that time that the Citizens have struggled to keep up with the title race.

The Daily Mail also understands that Aguero and Pep had a meeting on Thursday night and among the main topics of discussion was the player's future at the club. He could be releaesed even before the end of his contract which expires in 2020.

But the good thing about the Argentine is the fact that he has a long list of suitors, who include the likes of Real Madrid and his former club Atletico Madrid, who could lose their key forward Antoine Griezmann to Man Utd this summer.
