And according to the Sun, contact talks have already begun. The British tabloid claim that the Premier League giants have reached out to the player’s representative in order to discuss the personal terms of a possible transfer.
Man United are pulling out all the stops in order to lure the Frenchman to Old Trafford. The report claims that they are willing to offer the attacker a £220,000-per-week deal. If true, this would put him on level with Paul Pogba as the Red Devils’ highest-paid player.
Furthermore, Griezmann was offered the same bonuses and incentives held only by the world’s most expensive player. The Sun write that these talks happened this week, but do not give a specific date.
There remains one huge roadblock: his buyout clause. Atletico Madrid are holding firm on the player’s £86m release clause, meaning Mourinho’s side will have to break the bank. However, they are confident that the deal can be completed.
