The international break is over, meaning play will shortly resume in the leagues. Several exciting fixtures await fans this weekend, with one of the most highly-anticipated game being Manchester United vs. Arsenal.
The break is never forgiving on clubs, as managers have to worry about their players getting injured whilst on international duty. This was the fate of Arsene Wenger, as he witnessed Hector Bellerin pick up a knock whilst Alexis Sanchez was victim of an injury scare.
The Spaniard won’t feature against the Red Devils, but the latter will. Unfortunately, the Chilean – alongside his London employers – were the bigger losers from the break in comparison to Mourinho's men despite scoring an impressive brace.
The reason: fatigue: Sky Sports took a look into which club’s players traveled the most miles, and found out that the north London outfit earned over 18,000 more air miles than the 20-time Premier League champions.
Arsenal players covered 48,869 miles; Man United players covered only 30,883. Although the player who traveled the most air miles was from the Red Devils – Sergio Romero (14,338) – the highest first-team player was none other than Alexis Sanchez (14,416 miles).
The second-highest first-team player to cover the furthest air miles was another Arsenal player, this time Alex Iwobi. His total, though, was only 6,424.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Petr Cech were not required to travel, as both veterans have stepped down from international football.
