Team news

Swansea

There are only three injury concerns for the hosts – Nathan Dyer, Jefferson Montero and Kyle Naughton are all doubtful. Dyer’s case is all wrapped up and he could stay longer in the injury room but the other two could make surprise comebacks.

Man Utd

The visitors will be without Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia due to injury. Ander Herrera has been suspended while Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Paul Pogba are all doubtful due to injury.

Analysis

Manchester United are riding on a series of poor results, most recently their 2-1 defeat to Fenerbahce in Turkey in the Europa League. Their Portuguese boss, Jose Mourinho, is under pressure to steer the Red Devils back to winning ways lest they lose their grip on the title race this season or even a spot in the Champions League for next season. But this will be yet another difficult outing for the former Chelsea boss and his men due to the series of injuries he has to deal with.

Despite the return of Bastian Schweinsteiger to first-team training, the German is not expected to start at the midfield, and the same case applies to Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Mourinho will now have a selection headache at the center of the park and could bring in Michael Carrick as a possible reinforcement. But considering Swansea’s good home record against the Old Trafford outfit, having won the last two matches against them, Bob Bradley’s men have the upper hand in this match and are expected to bag at least a point.
