Manchester United and Manchester City are poised to win their respective English Premier League matches.Manchester United will remain at Old Trafford where they finished on the losing side of a 5-goal thriller against Athletic Bilbao. The Theatre of Dream is also where they encountered humiliating defeats to current league leaders Manchester City and to relegation fighters Blackburn Rovers earlier last year.

This will remind Alex Ferguson and his players to take West Bromwich Albion very seriously. After all, the Baggies are fresh from a 1-0 upset of Chelsea. They are plotting to embarrass yet another monster – not blue, but red this time.

After losing narrowly to Man United and stunning Arsenal earlier on, what can Swansea City do to Chelsea at the Liberty Stadium?
Andre Villas-Boas definitely needs to inspire his men in the absence of Ivorian stars Drogba and Kalou. The away record of the London-based club is quite inconsistent this season. Out of 11 away matches, Chelsea have won 5, drawn 4 and lost 2.

Chelsea are unbeaten domestically since the year commenced but they are eager to bounce back from their disappointing goalless draw away to Norwich City.

Fourth-placed Chelsea are 5 points behind Tottenham Hotspur. Although the title seems far from their reach, the Blues maintain the ambition of gaining as much points as possible.

Manchester United ground out a 1-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
The win allowed United to maintain the five-point gap between themselves and league leading Manchester City, the victory also ended a surprising statistic.

Before Saturday, Swansea held the surprising record of being the only top-flight team to have never lost a home game to United. The Red Devils had travelled to Wales eight times, and a 0-0 result in 1982 was one of only two draws achieved by United to go with six defeats.

What made United’s task seem even more difficult was the fact that Swansea were yet to lose on home soil to any opponent in the Premier League this season. The Swans had conceded only one goal during that unbeaten run, and that was a goal they scored on themselves.

Chelsea closed to within three points of first place in the Premier League thanks to an emphatic 4-1 victory over Swansea City.
While league leading Manchester United dropped points courtesy of a 1-1 draw at Stoke City, Chelsea cruised to an emphatic 4-1 triumph over the Swans.

With Daniel Sturridge inexperienced and Nicolas Anelka unsettled, it is important Chelsea find a consistent source of goals if they are to maintain a title challenge.

Spanish striker Fernando Torres is showing legitimate signs of a return to form, but it seems every step he takes forward is closely followed by a step backwards.

For example, last weekend Torres scored a fantastic goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Spanish international striker ran onto a Nicolas Anelka through ball and produced a deft flick over David De Gea to open Chelsea’s account.
