Mourinho has agreed to pen a deal to become Manchester United's next manager.

Despite the FA Cup victory, Louis van Gaal appeared to admit that his time as Red Devil's coach had come to an end after telling a Sky Sports news reporter 'It's over' on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho is on course to take the reigns as the Manchester United boss in the next few days after agreeing to a deal to take over Louis van Gaal's position. Although the Dutchman seemed likely to stay in charge for the next season after his men bagged their FA Cup against Crystal Palace, Mourinho will certainly replace the Red Devil's boss.

The former Chelsea manager turned down an offer from French giants PSG, hoping he would get called up by the English side and according to Express he has now agreed to a salary given by the club. The Portuguese man has also discussed possible targets to amplify his team for the upcoming season. Furthermore, Mourinho will likely be presented as the Man United boss once his agent, Jorge Mendes, finalizes the finer details of the deal.

Nonetheless, Louis van Gaal achieved his first major silverware with his side, clinching the FA Cup, but avoided speaking about his future with the club in the post-match press conference.

Louis-Van-Gaal-Manchester-United

"I show you the Cup, I don’t discuss my future with the media, some of you have had me sacked already.

“I don’t want to talk about leaving; I am proud that I am the first United manager after Sir Alex Ferguson to win a trophy. I have had a picture taken with Sir Alex, because that is history."

Regardless of their epic comeback victory to snatch the title from Alan Pardew's men, Manchester United has failed to qualify for the Champions League next season. They finished fifth on the table, a result which has prompted the club to change coaches ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Mourinho won three league titles in two spells at Chelsea and will be hoping to continue his success in the English Premier League.
