The USMNT will take on northern neighbors Canada in an exciting friendly at California's StubHub Center on Friday, February 5th. Here are some live TV listings & online streaming options for USA vs. Canada.

With the World Cup two years away, 2016 will be a busy year for many football teams, and the USA and Canada are not exception. In the CONCACAF region, March will mark the resumption of qualifying rounds for the 2018 edition of one of football's most major tournaments and as such, both the Stars and Stripes and Les Rouges will be keen on figuring out who will be their best starting XIs as they meet in an exciting friendly clash this Friday.

USA

The USMNT will be coming into this game having secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over tricky opponents Iceland in their first friendly of 2016. It was the third time they have faced a European opponent since the summer of 2015, and the third time they had to claw their way back into the match after falling behind. Just as they did in their 4-3 and 2-1 wins over the Netherlands and Germany back on June 5th and June 10th last year, Jürgen Klinsmann's men had to dig deep after Jozy Altidore's early goal was cancelled out by a brace from their Nordic opponents.

It was defender Steve Birnbaum who would turn out to be the hero on the evening, by first setting up fellow defender Michael Orozco for the equalizer and in a match the 25-year-old DC United player will never forget, firing in the game winner - which happened be his first international goal - in the last moments of the game.

This will indeed be a very busy 2016 for the Stars and Stripes, who are seeking to qualify for their eighth straight World Cup, and will be participating in the upcoming Copa America tournament this summer. After disappointment in the Gold Cup - a tournament many had viewed them as heavy favorites to win - the USMNT, who will be hosting the Copa America, will hope to at least put on a better showing in front of their home support.

Klinsmann has called up several new faces for both of these two friendlies against Iceland and the upcoming match versus Canada. They include San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham, defenders Eric Miller and Tim Parker, both of whom play their club football in Canada with Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps, midfielders Tony Tchani and Wil Trapp, who are colleagues at Columbus Crew, and forwards Jerome Kiesewetter and Ethan Finlay, who play for Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart and Columbus Crew respectively.

Following this clash with their northern neighbors, the USMNT will next turn their attention to World Cup Qualifiers, as they take on Guatamela in a two-legged tie at the end of March. Currently tied with Trinidad with four points but ahead of the Carribbean side on goal difference, these matches against the Central American side will be vital to secure a spot in the fifth round - especially given that Guatemala, who sit in third are still contenders with three points.

Canada

Meanwhile, for Canada, this will be their first game of 2016. Les Rouges do not have a good record against their southern neighbors; in fact, the last time they beat the USMNT was over three decades ago on April 2, 1985 when they powered past them 2-0. That also happened to be the last year Canada secured qualification for a World Cup, where they participated in the 1986 edition. However, it was not a tournament Canadians remember too fondly, as their national team crashed out at the group stages, finishing last in their group with three losses, no goals scored, and five conceded.

Since then, Canada and the USA have meet 16 times, and the best result the Canadians have achieved have been eight draws, including two back to back scoreless stalemates on June 3, 2012 and again on January 29, 2013. Under the guidance of Spanish tactician Benito Floro, they will be hoping to secure a spot at the 2018 World Cup - which, should they succeed will represent the second time in their entire history they have participated in the quadrennial tournament.

Currently in second spot in Group A, this friendly against the USMNT will present a good opportunity for Floro and his team to ascertain his best line-up for their upcoming crunch ties versus Mexico next month. Les Rouges, who kicked their World Cup qualifying campaign off with a win against Honduras and draw with El Salvador, will be hoping to edge out the two sides below them to secure a coveted ticket to the fifth round.

Although they have four points, a win for El Salvador or Honduras in their own match coupled with a loss for Canada could put them in danger of missing out yet again, and as such, they will be hoping to earn at least a point - hopefully more - against the Mexicans in what will surely be a tricky test, so they will be hoping to cause an upset as they take on familiar opponent USA on Friday.
