The Dutchman hinted that he might be losing the board’s backing after the 2-0 defeat to Stoke.

Times are getting tougher for Man United and their boss Louis Van Gaal.

It was only three days ago when the Dutch tactician stormed out of a news conference, as the media continued to run with stories linking Jose Mourinho as the 64-year-old’s replacement.

A series of disappointing results and below par performances has seen fans turn against the former Netherlands national team boss, as they lost ground in the English Premier League race.

Boxing Day handed an even bigger blow to Van Gaal, as the Red Devils lost 2-0 away to Stoke City, their fourth straight defeat in all competition.

After the final whistle, with Twitter mocking the United boss and calling for his sacking, he admitted in a post match interview that he may be losing the board’s backing.

Van Gaal was being tipped for the sack after only 45 minutes vs Stoke

Van Gaal, as he walked away from the interview, even handed the reporter a death stare, having had to once again discuss about the doubts surrounding Louis’ ability to steer the 20-time champions out of this latest crisis.

Below is the most interesting part of the interview.

Reporter: “Do you still think you can do it [solve Man United’s problems]?”

Van Gaal: “It’s more difficult because I am also part of the four matches that we have lost and so people are looking at me. I have to deal with that, but much more important is that the players have to deal with that because they have to perform.”

Reporter: “You seemed hurt in the week by speculation about your future. Do you expect a fresh wave of that speculation?”

Van Gaal: “I was not hurt. Then you don’t understand my message. My message was that media are saying things, writing things that are not confirmed with what is happening in Manchester United. That was my message, not that I am hurt, because I’m used to that.”

Reporter: “What is the truth then? Are the people that matter still behind you?”

Van Gaal: “It’s not a situation. We have lost the fourth game, so you have to wait and see."
