There is no FA Cup title or Carling Cup trophy to dream about. Manchester United can solely focus on winning the English Premier League now.

The Red Devils are aiming to evaporate the 3-point gap that puts them behind league leaders Manchester City. However, expect eighth-placed Stoke City to apply pressure on Ferguson’s outfit at Old Trafford tonight.
Stoke City encountered defeat in their latest English Premier League fixture but they should find hope and confidence through a few things ahead of Tuesday night’s battle at Old Trafford. Firstly, the Potters are going into the game fresh from their convincing 2-0 win over Derby in the FA Cup Fourth Round. Manchester United, meanwhile, are carrying the wound of their 2-1 loss to Liverpool.
Fans of the English game will be treated with Carling Cup football tonight. There could be 90 minutes of good football, drama and physical tension at Goodison Park, the Britannia Stadium and at the Molineux.

Four matches will kick off with Blackburn Rovers vs Newcastle United being, arguably, the least interesting clash. At 2:45pm EST and 6:45pm GMT, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City will get things underway. Simultaneously, Liverpool will battle it out against Stoke City at the venue where the Merseyside Reds experienced their first defeat this season.
Stoke City, being unbeaten at home domestically, are looking to upset Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish, meanwhile, is aware of the danger that his side will face tonight. Liverpool have made of the Carling Cup a priority this season so they wouldn’t want to lose this Fourth Round fixture.

Liverpool may get things very hard at the Britannia Stadium tonight. The Merseyside Reds lost at that venue earlier this season.

“Our home record is a proud one and due in no small measure to the tremendous backing we've had from our supporters,” Tony Pulis boldly reminded in a pre-match interview with the English press.
“We will have our work cut out but I am sure that our fans will raise their game like the players will have to raise theirs if we are to get the right result,” the manager added.
“There will be a tremendous atmosphere for another cup game here but I hope a few more will decide come along to lend their support because we'll need it.
The Premier League title battle may have been decided but the relegation dogfight at the bottom of the table reaches its peak moment this weekend.
Relegation Battle will be the absolute theme of this weekend's action in the Barclays Premier League. Five teams are still in danger of getting relegated and four matches will determine the two teams that will be doomed of playing Championship football alongside the already relegated West Ham United.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves have had a very mixed season and once again, to predict their imminent future is indeed a difficult task considering their inconsistency. Worse still, they face another relegation candidate this weekend in Blackburn Rovers in a do-or-die encounter at the Molineaux.
Home advantage will be a key aspect of their chances as they have only lost once in their last six home games, scoring 13 goals as well. Steven Fletcher is also in red hot form having scored 5 goals in his last five Premier League matches. It all depends on whether Wolves can produce one final performance to secure their spot among the elite for next season.
Stoke City's style of playing football might have been criticised on numerous occassions but Tony Pulis has other ideas on his mind.

How many times have we heard Stoke City being criticized for their 'ugly' football? But yet they have been there among the mid-table teams for the past few seasons. And I can bravely say that all the credit goes duly to Tony Pulis.
The level of success that he has brought to Stoke City since they were promoted has been magnificent. And we are speaking about establishing a lower-ranked club in the Premier League- something that so many managers have failed to achieve.
Nevertheless, today marks a historic day in Stoke's encyclopedia of success as they head to Wembley to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final- the pinnacle of Pulis' time with Stoke, since taking over in 2006.
Dave Whelan might have played for Man City before but he is absolutely eager to help Stoke City beat his former employers tomorrow.

Glenn Whelan was part of City's youth academy set-up during their time at Maine's road last time but his short tenure under Kevin Keegan never materialized and Whelan was imminently offloaded on a free transfer to Sheffield Wednesday.
Now, Whelan's desire to overcome his former employers in tomorrow's FA Cup final is absolutely on fire although he did admit to keeping in touch with their results and news.
"It was coming up to the end of the season, I'd been out on loan and got a taste for it. There was interest from Sheffield Wednesday and Kevin Keegan said he didn't think I was going to break in this year or next year so the best thing would be to go out and play games.
Man City might be close to ending their trophy drought at Eastlands but Yaya Toure admits that he is sad ahead of the FA Cup final on Sunday

Yaya Toure was the one that drove City into their FA Cup final at Wembley after scoring that important winner against Manchester United but the Ivorian is adamant that things will not be the same without his brother, Kolo Toure on the field.
Kolo Toure was suspended from football after failing a drug test in March although City have coped pretty well with his absence by qualifying for the FA Cup final as well as the Champions League next season. Nonetheless Yaya Toure insists that he will be playing for his brother on Sunday.
Edin Dzeko is all fired up for the FA Cup final this weekend after he stated that he wants to help City end their trophy drought

Manchester City have lived in the shadows of Manchester United for a very long time now and the Citizens have not experienced cup success for almost 35 years now. However, Roberto Mancini's side have a chance to end that barren spell this weekend when they take on Stoke City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
City's January signing, Edin Dzeko might not have impressed many with his performances so far but the Bosnian striker is absolutely ecstatic ahead of the final clash with Stoke City after he insisted that he is very much motivated to help Manchester City win the FA Cup on Sunday.

English Premier League leaders Manchester United will face Tony Pulis’ physical Stoke City on Tuesday night. Man UTD assistant manager Mike Phelan is wary of the Potters’ strength ahead of the match...

Seven places and 14 points separate Stoke City from the Red Devils in the English Premier League standings as both teams prepare to face each other at Old Trafford tonight. However, despite his side’s seize in terms of history, advantage and league position, Manchester United’s assistant Mike Phelan feels the need to be worried ahead of the encounter.
Phelan even went as far as comparing the importance of the Manchester United vs Stoke City game as any top English Premier League fixture against the rest of the Big 4. Talking to the Red Devils’ official website, the assistant manager was quoted as saying:
Liverpool will clash against Stoke City this weekend as their unbeaten run continues in the English Premier League. Steven Gerrard is looking for a victory following their recent draw.

Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium isn’t the best place for weakened teams to recharge their batteries. Arsenal and Manchester United can tell you just how much strength and luck is needed at times to triumph away to Stoke.
Now Liverpool are in a delicate situation presently, hanging on to their current top half position. Their defeat of Chelsea injected some much needed excitement among their supporters, but their very recent 1-1 draw away to Wigan Athletic has somehow brought disappointment once again.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, they couldn’t capitalize on Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland’s draw. Eventually, they still seat behind these two teams in 9th position with 16 points like 5 other English Premier League contenders.
Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier finally returns to the English Premier League. The 63-year-old should officially be named as Aston Villa’s new manager for a three-year contract by Thursday.
Reports explain that the delay in Aston Villa’s presentation of Gerard Houllier as the club’s new coach is due to a simple reason. The 63-year-old man, who managed Lyon between 2005 and 2007, has a few things to sort out with the French FA as FFF President Fernando Duchaussoy clarified:
“On Wednesday, I’ll meet with Gerard. We want to take a stock of the situation with him. I’d like to keep working with him.”
So once things get sorted out, Aston Villa should officially announce their capture of Gerard Houllier who then replaces Martin O’Neil. In terms of his preferences, the ex-Liverpool coach wants to reunite with current Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson and make him his assistant manager. Houllier and Thompson had a successful year working together back in 2001 as they led Liverpool to win the FA Cup, UEFA Cup, and League Cup treble.
Brazilian midfielder Ramires signed for the Blues a couple of weeks ago. Now as Chelsea prepare to host Stoke City in the English Premier League this weekend, the player gets ready for a memorable debut at Stamford Bridge.
Ramires missed Chelsea’s 6-0 demolitions of West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic, but he looks forward to enjoying some playing time against Stoke City. The £18,2m signing from Benfica told The Mirror in an interview:
“I can’t wait to play my first game for Chelsea. I have spoken with the manager and that could happen this Saturday. My debut will be incredible for me, because I have always dreamed of this chance. It will be a great moment for me.
“Chelsea have begun the season like a locomotive engine. But, the season is long and matches aren’t always easy. For me, however, Chelsea are the favorites to win the title and I want to be in the starting XI. That’s my target.”
Tottenham Hotspur will be back to English Premier League business when they face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, August 21. The Londoners just lost 3-2 to Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League during the week.
However, play maker Luka Modric insists that Tottenham Hotspur will not have to take fatigue, following their midweek trip to Switzerland, as an excuse to fail when they affront Stoke City on match-day two of the English Premier League. The 24-year-old Croatian spoke to the Evening Standard as gave his thoughts on Spurs’ agenda and their upcoming match at the Britannia Stadium:
“To go away twice in four days… that’s football. You can’t choose the games or where you play. Some other teams struggle. But, I hope we play well.
Stoke City were sharp to complete a transfer deal with Sunderland for the signature of striker Kenwyne Jones ahead of the start of the English Premier League season.
The Trinidad and Tobago international is now set to make his debut as a Potter on Saturday when Stoke City take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Kenwyne Jones completed his move to the Britannia Stadium earlier on Wednesday. Having been signed for £8m, the striker now holds the club’s record transfer fee which was previously carried throughout last season by £6m signing Robert Huth – formerly from Middlesbrough. Speaking about his move to Stoke City, the Trinidad and Tobago player declared:

The big fish from the Premier League now swim among the surviving minnows as the 4th Round of the FA Cup gets underway this weekend. Here we preview a match up of two of those big fish. New Premier League leaders Arsenal visit 11th place Stoke City on Sunday. The Gunners are in fine form; the Potters are struggling. One fish will gobble up the other and in an FA Cup tie anything can happen.
Stoke come into the FA Cup 4th Round having beaten York City by a comfortable 3-1 margin in the 3rd Round. Despite the vast difference in quality between the two clubs’ respective leagues, the match at first seemed in doubt.
Stoke City host Manchester United on Saturday afternoon at the Britannia Stadium. The Red Devils know all about Stoke City’s resilience. So as they look forward to remain in the contest for the English Premier League title, Manchester United will deploy much of their strength.
Despite Stoke City’s status as a promoted side who survived relegation last season, it is a strong possibility that Saturday’s match involving Manchester United will not be a one way contest.
The corresponding fixture last year saw the Red Devils – dressed in blue on that day – edge past Stoke City by a single goal to nil. Manchester United were subject to pressure and anxiety for over eighty minutes until Carlos Tevez, who is now at City, clinched the winning goal.
There could be more of the same on Saturday at the Britannia Stadium. How exciting the match promises to be!
Stoke City were moments away from holding on to Chelsea’s unbreakable might two weeks ago.
Chelsea travel to Stoke City this weekend as they aim to pick up from where they left before the international break.
The Blues seat on top of the English Premier League table with all the maximum points. Carlo Ancelotti's men enter Saturday's game as the hot favorites.
Whereas the club are facing internal problems with FIFA regulations, the men on the pitch are poised to make the headlines with another marvelous result at the Britannia stadium.
However, Chelsea will not attempt to underestimate last season's relegation survivors Stoke City after struggling against other survivors Hull City in the opening fixture of the season.
