The Dutch boss was subject to a number of rumors yesterday, in which some sources indicated he would be sacked in the following hours.

Louis Van Gaal addressed the media prior to Manchester United's crucial Boxing Day match against Stoke City. The Dutch tactician, who was rumored to have been let go by the Red Devils yesterday, voiced his discomfort over those rumors, claiming irresponsible reports had his wife and friends worried about his future.

Answering a question about Arsene Wenger's supportive words for him, LVG practically demanded an apology from all the reporters present in the press conference.

"Does anybody in this room have the feeling to apologize to me? Nobody has that feeling? That's what I'm wondering. I think I was already sacked, I've read I had been sacked. My colleague was here already. What do you think that happens with my wife or with my kids, or with the fans or my friends?" the Dutch manager inquired.

In what proved to be quite a short appearance, Van Gaal revealed he has the full support of everybody in his team, regardless of what people may think.

"I have tried to lift the confidence of my players, I've done everything this week. I've held meetings with my players and members of the staff, I held the Christmas lunch and I feel the warmth and support of everyone in this training complex, but I didn't feel that in the media. I'm only here because the Premier League asks me to," Van Gaal added.

The Dutch boss refused to answer anymore questions, considering they were all based on speculation, and left the conference room wishing those in attendance a Merry Christmas.
