The transfer season is almost here and top English clubs are busy scouting new players. Here is the latest from the market.

In Madrid, the latest transfer reports suggest that Premier League giants Manchester United have enquired about the availability of Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema.

According to a report published on El Confidencial, the Red Devils are keen on bringing the embattled forward to Old Trafford, after being engrossed in a controversy over a sex tape scandal involving his national teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

The Frenchman has not had peace in Madrid lately; the Valbuena saga comes just a few months after he was arrested for driving without a license. If found guilty of blackmail, he could be sent to jail for five years.

United are said to be taking advantage of his current tribulations by offering him a safer escape route to England. Initially, the talented forward was valued at 60 million Euros but Madrid are aware of the fact that his price tag has depreciated drastically after his recent brush with the law.

Additionally, United have the assumption that the 27-year-old would love to reunite with his national team striker Anthony Martial and Luis Van Gaal could use the 19-year-old wonder kid as bait. If he joins the 20-time Premier League champions, he could replace the out-of-form Rooney as the club’s central striker. The 30-year-old England international will effectively move back to the attacking midfield position.

Despite the challenges facing him, Benzema has scored six goals for Los Blancos in La Liga this season in eight appearances.
