The Chinese Super League has been attracting superstars from all over the world and reports from England suggest that Wayne Rooney could be the latest addition in the financially-stable league.

The Manchester United forward has been having a frustrating season at his club and The Sun reports that he could be on his way out of the Premier League. The 30-year-old could join the Chinese league as a marquee signing in a bid to lure more superstars to the Asian country and raise the profile of the league.

The United forward reacts after missing a goal-scoring opportunity in a previous league match. Rooney has had a difficult season at Old Trafford and the Chinese are banking on this fact to lure him to China with an huge deal.

However, the England all-time top scorer has three years left on his contract with the Red Devils but he could be tempted to move to China, after the local league signed a broadcasting deal worth $1.7 billion. If the Man United man joins the Chinese Super League, he could link up with former England manager Sven-Goraon Eriksson, who is the current manager of Shanghai.

Other global superstars who have played in China include former Manchester City hitman Robinho, Chelsea’s Demba Ba, Tim Cahill formerly of Everton and Momo Sissoko, who also played for Liverpool FC.

Former Chelsea players Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drobga both played in China after leaving the Premier League champions

The former Everton striker has only scored two goals for Man United in 11 appearances this season and is under pressure to deliver goals, especially due to the fact that he pockets £250,000 every week at United.
