The English Premier League resumes after the international break and top of the list of the must-watch fixtures is the Manchester City versus Liverpool game.

The two Premier League giants clash in their thirteenth game of the season at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 21, November. This fixture comes at a time when Liverpool are at a transitional period after the arrival of German tactician Jurgen Klopp. Under the former Borussia Dortmund manager, Liverpool have had three crucial wins, most notably at the Stamford Bridge against bitter rivals Chelsea.

On the other hand, Man City are top of the Premier League with 26 points, nine above tenth-placed Liverpool. The Merseyside club will be looking to secure a crucial morale-boosting win especially after going down 1-2 at home to Crystal Palace before the international break.

On Saturday, all eyes will be on on Raheem Sterling, who is expected to feature against his former club. The Citizens boast of one of the most lethal forwards in the league, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Winfred Bonny, Sterling, and Sergio Aguero, who is expected to return from injury this weekend.

Key battles

De Bruyne vs Coutinho

These two creative minds have been behind the superb goals scored by their respective clubs this campaign and Saturday’s epic encounter will provide a chance for the two playmakers to go head to head against each other. De Bruyne, 24, has 3 goals to his name this season, 4 assists and 24 chances created for the Manchester side. On the other hand, 22-year-old Countinho has four goals to his name, 2 assists and 14 chances created.

Coutinho could team up with Sturridge and Benteke against their weekend opponents

Also, De Bruyne has completed 38 passes for Manchester City compared to 80 for Coutinho. The latter has had 17 shots on target compared to the former’s tally of 52. However, De Bruyne has played eight times for his club compared to Coutinho’s 11.

Daniel Sturridge vs Sergio Aguero

This weekend’s fixture at the Etihad Stadium could see two of the most prolific strikers in England return to action against each other. The injury-prone Sturridge has missed 67 games due to injury since joining Liverpool in 2012. He has also scored in three out of the four games he has featured in when returning from injury for the Reds. Aguero has, however, scored only once for City in a game where he has just returned from injury.

Sturridge has a solid history of scoring goals in his first match after returning from injury and he could prove that against The Citizens

The Argentine has scored 84 Premier League goals in 128 appearances for the Citizens ever since he moved to the Etihad Stadium from Atletico Madrid for £38 million. On the other hand, the Englishman has scored 37 Premier League goals for the Anfield-based side in 58 appearances.

Manuel Pellegrini vs Jurgen Klopp

The tactical battle on Saturday will be between Manuel Pellegrini and Jurgen Klopp who have to be at their best to inspire their teams to a crucial win. The two managers have distinct characters- Pellegrini is somewhat dull, relaxed and silent on the touchline, while Klopp is the famous charming, outspoken and charismatic manager.

The two sides clashed back in April 2013 when Dortmund hosted Malaga in the second-leg fixture of the Champions League quarterfinals after a goalless first leg. During the second leg fixture in Germany, the game was level at 2-2 until Felipe Santana, who was notably offside, scored the winner for the home team to end the match at 3-2 and qualify for the next round. In general, Pellegrini seems more of a club stabilizer but Klopp is more of a galvanizer- something that contributed to his success at Dortmund.
