One of the fiercest rivalries in English football will be reignited as Arsenal and Tottenham go head to head in the Capital One Cup. They however come into the match at the back of different results. Spurs have won all their last three matches in all competitions and are undefeated in five.

Arsenal on the other hand have lost both of their last two matches, with their visit to Stamford Bridge last time out ending in controversy after two of their players were given their marching orders.
After a disappointing transfer window, both of Arsenal's front-men, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud have been struggling. The Frenchman in particular has made an underwhelming start but has received support from his manager.

"With Giroud it is a competition with Walcott," Wenger told the official Arsenal website. "When one plays people always ask, 'Why did you not play the other one?'

"When you have two top-level strikers, some games Giroud plays and some games Walcott plays. Nobody anymore can play 60 games per season.

"What we want to do is make the right decision for the right game. Giroud is a guy who has a positive attitude, who is ready to have a go.

"He is a very strong man and with his back to the wall Giroud can always respond. I think he has assets in the game.

"For two guys it can be interesting for the squad as they both have different qualities. They complement each other very well.

"[Giroud] can protect the ball, he can hold the ball, he can bring other plays in.

"That's one of the big parts of his game, that is why he creates so many chances and that is why the other players love him and love to play with him as well."

Arsenal have not enjoyed much luck in the competition in recent years and have failed to make it beyond the Quarter Final stage since 2011. Tottenham on the other handed were runners-up in the tournament last time out, losing to Chelsea in the final.

A brace from Harry Kane gave Tottenham the victory when the two sides met at White Hart Lane last season. The Englishman enjoyed a festive season last time out which saw him scoring 31 goals. He has however failed to score in seven appearances this season.

Tottenham are likely to be without midfielders Ryan Mason and Mousa Dembele. Arsenal on the other hand will welcome back Per Mertesacker to the squad but Coquelin who suffered a knee injury against Chelsea last time out will remain on the sidelines. Whereas Santi Cazorla will face a one match ban after receiving two bookings in the match against Chelsea.
