Manchester United had a good off-season and would like to build up on that when they face Tottenham for the beginning of the 2015-2016 Barclays Premier League. The team of Louis van Gaal features some changes from last season and Memphis
Over the summer, the Red Devils played in the United States and only lost against Paris Saint-Germain. They did collect important wins against Club America, San Jose Earthquakes and Barcelona by 3-1. Maybe one of their biggest losses was in their roster with Angel di Maria moving from Manchester to Paris this week.
The biggest surprise this Saturday will be not seeing David de Gea in goal for the Red Devils. For his manager, De Gea has been really affected with all the rumours about a possible move to Real Madrid. The Spanish goalkeeper has made it clear he wants to play for the club of his own country, but things have not worked that way.
WATCH: LVG does not have a doubt that De Gea will not play
This could probably lead into the possibility of Sergio Romero, a new player from Argentina, to start as De Gea's replacement in the game against the Spurs. Another new player that could be making his official debut for Manchester is Bastian Schweinsteiger, to help
Sam Johnstone played in all four pre-season games. He was on loan with Preston and Doncaster. Giving him some minutes to play in his first official game is not a crazy idea if Romero is not ready for this one.
Javier Hernandez may be fit to play after missing the Gold Cup with a collarbone fracture. The 27-year-old Mexican striker is still linked to a possible move to the MLS, where he could be playing alongside Kaká with Orlando City SC. Last season, he played for Real Madrid and LVG said he was not too interested in him.
Wayne Rooney will continue to play a vital role for The Reds. He had some solid performances in the U.S. tour and continues to be an icon in Manchester United's lineup. He is a very versatile player that should not struggle too much to click with the new signings up front.
Tottenham is coming out a third place finish in the Audi Cup. They lost against Real
For the Spurs, this is a chance of a revenge against the Red Devils. The team of LVG defeated Tottenham by 3-0 in the second leg of last season. The Argentinian manager admitted that his team might still add some players in the following weeks, but for now, he is pleased with what he has.
The leader in this team goes by the name of Hary Kane. The young English striker was even linked with Real Madrid at some point, but for now, he should continue to the goal-scoring threat he was last season. Kane finished second to Sergio Aguero in the top-scoring table of last season with 21 goals, just five below Aguero.
