With the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie, Manchester United are short on strikers, and manager Louis van Gaal is fully aware of that.
The Red Devils have been linked to an array of goalscoring targets, with the likes Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Edinson Cavani, and Pedro tipped to be on the English Premier League giants’ radar.
However, the club’s manager did reveal that his side are working to recruit new forward to Old Trafford, but stated that the media is yet to find out who they are after.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s International Champions Cup clash with SJ Earthquakes, Van Gaal claims the press is in the dark over their transfer target, whilst also admitting that a deal to bring in a new goalscorer is in the process.
“It's not the striker that the media has written,' Van Gaal revealed. “But you have to wait and see. The transfer period is open until August 31 or September 2.”

Reports suggest that captain Wayne Rooney, a striker turned attacking midfielder upon Van Persie’s Theatre of Dreams arrival, may return to his preferred position, a more advanced role up the pitch and spearhead the team's attack.
Van Gaal did little to add to or douse these reports, however, but did hail the Englishman’s leadership skills, saying: “I think he is a great captain. Better than I had expected, and he is fully accepted by the players and that is also very important.”
The rumors about Sergio Ramos’ Manchester United switch were raised in the press conference, and whilst Van Gaal remained coy over the possibility of signing the Spaniard, he did hint that a deal is in the working.
“I cannot talk about these rumours,” said the Dutchman. “I have said already it's a process and maybe Mr Ramos is in the process.”
