Tom Hanks got a special invitation to be part of the roster of Jill Ellis for their game against Germany. The U.S. wants to make it to a second consecutive final

Germany is the last barrier between the United States Women's National team and a second consecutive World Cup final. The USWNT know they need all the support they can get to beat the number one team in the world and they have called up Tom Hanks to be the leader of the fan section.

It all started with a tweet sent out by the Hollywood star, widely known for his role as Forrest Gump in the movvie with the same name released in 1994. Hanks has been constantly tweeting support messages for Jill Ellis and her players. He has shown that his knowledge about the sport and the team is pretty extense.

Hanks is willing to do whatever it takes to support the USWNT

This time, his efforts before the semi-final did not go unnoticed. The team sent out a special registration card for the actor.

USWNT added him last minute to their roster

He is not the only one getting behind the efforts of Alex Morgan, Hope Solo and company. The nation which is not particurly know for being big soccer fans, is trying to prove the world wrong not only on the pitch but outside of it as well. This is a clear sign that soccer in the United is growing by the day.

The United States can't complain about a lack of support
