The match is scheduled to take place at the Toyota Stadium in Texas on January 31, 2014. The home crowd will be looking forward to another terrific display from USA’s female soccer stars. The last meeting between the two rivals produced a 3-0 result with Sydney Leroux and Alex Morgan getting the goals.
The Canadians have bad memories of their last international game at Toyota Stadium. That was back in May 2007 when they succumbed to a 6-2 loss to the United States. Neutrals will be hoping for a much closer contest this time round although records recall that the hosts have won all games in Texas.
However, odds are totally against Canada who have lost 46 out of 54 encounters against the USWNT. Tom Sermanni’s ladies are flying high with a year-long unbeaten record (13W-3D-0L). The coach told the press:

The RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. will host the highly anticipated women’s soccer friendly match between the U.S. and Mexico. It has been 75 days since players of the USWNT have not come together to honour their country’s colours. But with the National Women’s Soccer League Championship now over, home supporters will finally be able to see their team play for the first time since the resounding 5-0 win over Korea Republic on June 20.
Thanks to the likes of living legend Abby Wambach, young chap Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux and Christen Press, the Americans have enjoyed a great run of form in front of goal this year. Their average stands at nearly 3.3 goals per match since the beginning of the year 2013.
Thirteen of the 18 players called up for Tuesday’s friendly at home to Mexico participated in the first edition of the NWSL.
It has been almost two years since the two teams have clashed. The Mexicans will want to improve on what happened in their last meeting; they lost 4-0 in a CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament. That game was played in Vancouver, Canada. The USWNT eventually booked a place in the semis before going on to conquer London at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Mexico’s record against the United States Women’s National Team is dreadful with 26 defeats and only one victory in a total of 28 matches. Looking at the fitness and momentum of the Americans, it is very likely that home supporters at the RFK Stadium will be treated to another explosive and commanding display from Hope Solo and company.
Where to watch the match – start time, TV channel, live scores
USA vs Mexico can be seen as the icing on the cake of this summer’s exciting National Women’s Soccer League championship. The match will take place at the RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. where the hosts last won 6-2 over Canada; that was in May 2008. USA vs Mexico should be available at 20:00 ET to over 90 million American homes following the launch of FOX Sports 1 on August 17, 2013.
U.S. coach Tom Sermanni revealed his eagerness at taking part in this scheduled friendly match which will feature several NWSL names. He declared:
“This event will only bring the players together for a few days, but as always, we relish the opportunity to play an international match.
Miami, Florida (June 15, 2013)
USA vs Korea Republic kicks off this Saturday at 19:00 EST / 23:00 GMT. Watch this women’s soccer friendly match live on ESPN3. This will wrap up ESPN3’s five-match coverage on June 15 which includes the Confederations Cup 2013 opening match, Brazil vs Japan.
The good news for USA supporters is that Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe return to the squad for the first time since February. The pair will be one of the main fan attraction this Saturday.
The U.S. Women’s National Team is in great form. Earlier this month, they battled Canada with success. It was the first time since the Olympics that the pair clashed. The Canadians were on the end of a controversial 4-3 loss back in London as the Americans went on to reach the final where they ultimately defeated Japan to win gold. Canada, meanwhile, proudly settled for bronze.
