Perú on the other hand, made it through after struggling in difficult Group C. Perú comes from a 3rd place finish in the last Copa América edition, and with a generation that sometimes resembles the National Team from the early 1970s, some experts see them as the proverbial underdog in a competition that has brought its share of surprises so far.
Things between these two teams have been quite even during their most recent games, as stats show that each side has won only one game, while drawing four. Their last Copa América meeting came back in 2007, when another draw was staged in the city of Mérida. Regarding that meeting, Peruvian Claudio Pizarro and Bolivian Marcelo Moreno remain as key elements in their respective lineups, as they proved to be on that game. Pizarro scored both goals for Perú, while Moreno scored the go ahead goal for the Bolivians, later cancelled by Pizarro's efforts.
