On loan from Liverpool, new Juventus player Alberto Aquilani revealed how he came to join the Italian Seria A outfit as it looked like he would remain with the Reds in the English Premier League.

Current Juventus and on-loan Liverpool star Alberto AquilaniAlberto Aquilani is now dreaming of transforming his loan deal with Juventus into a permanent one. Injuries prevented the former AS Roma midfielder from shining at Anfield. The 26-year-old player featured for Liverpool only 18 times since signing for the English club back in August 2009.

Having enjoyed only 9 starts under a Merseyside Red Jersey, Alberto Aquilani was denied a great Liverpool debut. The Italian explained how he instantly opted to join Juventus during the just-ended summer transfer window. English tabloid The Sun quoted Aquilani as saying:

“One day, I was speaking with [Liverpool coach] Roy Hodgson as we were discussing Liverpool’s season. Three days later, I found myself having a medical in Turin.

“Liverpool counted on me and maybe I’d have stayed [at Anfield] finally because at the end of last season, I was getting in gear physically. I had even played the last eight games of the [English Premier League] campaign.

“The fans had started showing me affection. Then, this opportunity [of joining Juventus] arrived, and I did not even need a minute to think about it.

“I’d like to remain [with Juventus], but everything depends on what happens this season since I’m on loan. I’m confident, though, because I came here with the intention of making the deal a permanent one.”

Alberto Aquilani may follow Liverpool’s English Premier League match away to Birmingham City from his TV set this weekend. Earlier on, he could be in action for Juventus as the Old Lady host Sampdoria in the Italian Seria A on Sunday as well.
