Alberto Aquilani is now dreaming of transforming his loan deal with Juventus into a permanent one. Injuries prevented the former AS Roma midfielder from shining at Anfield. The 26-year-old player featured for Liverpool only 18 times since signing for the English club back in August 2009.
Having enjoyed only 9 starts under a Merseyside Red Jersey, Alberto Aquilani was denied a great Liverpool debut. The Italian explained how he instantly opted to join Juventus during the just-ended summer transfer window. English tabloid The Sun quoted Aquilani as saying:
“One day, I was speaking with [Liverpool coach] Roy Hodgson as we were discussing Liverpool’s season. Three days later, I found myself having a medical in Turin.
Juventus claim that the Dutch midfielder will be a perfect replacement for Brazilian player Diego who is ready to officially become a Wolfsburg player. Rafael Van der Vaart has made just a bit more than 50 appearances for Real Madrid since joining Los Blancos from Hamburg in 2008.
Now with the arrival of Mesut Ozil at the Santiago Bernabeu, Rafael Van der Vaart’s playing time could come under a threat. The player is already eying a dream move to Manchester United. However, Sir Alex Ferguson has so far showed no serious interest in signing the Dutch. Instead, Juventus have come back calling.
