There were reports Manchester United would buy him for up to $150 million. His contract with Los Merengues expires in 2019.

One of the most criticized players in Real Madrid's roster this season is it's most expensive player Gareth Bale. The 25-year-old Welshman arrived in the Spanish capital in 2013 and this season seems to be one to forget. Just when the rumors about a possible exit were heating up, his agent has claimed Bale is in Madrid to stay.

Manchester United had reportedly saved up to $150 million to buy the former Tottenham player. Despite being very important for Madrid to win the Copa del Rey and Champions League in 2014, after a game like the one he played in Turin, many fans have voiced their will to watch him go somewhere else.

"Real Madrid are the number one club in the world. There's always interest in him - but as far as we are concerned he'll be at Real Madrid next summer," his agent said.

Some people find a reason for Bale's poor performances

Carlo Ancelotti stepped up to defend his player after he was heavily criticized in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Juventus. Many critics say that Los Merengues played with ten players because Bale did not do anything good for his team in Italy.

"Bale was tired; he's just come back from an injury and he's just too important for us," Ancelotti said after the game.

Bale could be available for £80m, but it seems time and time again that Carletto doesn't want Madrid's most expensive asset to go anywhere this summer. Now the Italian manager is expected to go back to a 4-3-3 and probably rest Bale before the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.

Tottenham's manager is confident in Bale's abilities

During the 85 minutes he played in the game against Juventus, Bale did not have a single shot on goal, a tackle, no was he caught off-side. While he is usually one of the players that runs the most during a game, he did not even reach 10 kilometers this time (9.7).
