England striker Wayne Rooney was arguably the biggest flop during the 2010 World Cup. But ahead of England’s Euro 2012 qualifying match against Bulgaria, Coach Fabio Capello insists that the Manchester United forward is back to form.

England striker Wayne Rooney celebrates another goalStatistics tell that Wayne Rooney hasn’t scored for the Three Lions since September last year as he was goalless as well throughout the World Cup in South Africa. The 24-year-old is also yet to score from open play for the Red Devils since March.

However, his penalty goal for Manchester United against West Ham United in the English Premier League last weekend declares that Wayne Rooney has recaptured his goal scoring touch, according to Coach Fabio Capello. The Italian manager gave his thoughts concerning the striker’s performance in United’s 3-0 win over the Hammers as he spoke from England’s team hotel. Capello proudly stated:

“[Wayne Rooney] is good. He is back! It was important for him to get the penalty [against West Ham]. It’s important for every forward to score goals. I saw the game against West Ham.

“He has improved a lot. It is a good moment for him, and I think that the will be OK for the game against Bulgaria. It is always important for forwards to score for confidence.”

Wayne Rooney had a disastrous World Cup campaign with England earlier in June and he is keen to write a new chapter in his international career. Rooney may have to play upfront with Jermain Defoe since Tottenham’s Peter Crouch had to withdraw from the squad due to a back injury.

England and Bulgaria will lock horns at 3:00pm EST on Friday, September 3. Visit the England vs Bulgaria Live Streaming and TV Schedule page for more info concerning this Euro 2012 qualifying fixture.
