Mou insists that having him play against Stoke was not a big deal. The Spanish striker is not expected to face Manchester United.

11 minutes was all it took for Diego Costa in Chelsea’s game against Stoke City to realize his hamstrings were still not ready. Now, Jose Mourinho believes that the Spanish striker could miss an extended period of time for him to recover.

"He will be out for sure a couple of weeks, but we have seven weeks until the end of the season,” an optimistic Mou said.

The Special One knows he might not count on Costa for a longer period of time than the one he expects. With eight games over those seven weeks, Mourinho wants his star to be ready for at least half of those games.

Costa only played the first 11 minutes of the second half in the game against Stoke. The former Atletico Madrid striker along with Chelsea’s medical staff, were convinced he was ready for much more than what he could play on Saturday.

Mourinho is not mad that Costa had to leave the game early with his injured hamstringDiego Costa walked out off the game early"The player trained two days 100 per cent with the team, the medical department was convinced that he was ready,” Mourinho told the press.

The striker missed playing with his national team in order to take care of his muscular problem. After realizing they made a mistake by letting Costa play, Mourinho had no one to blame.

"Sometimes as a manager I have to risk things. Medical departments have to do the same, if they want to be top medical departments like our department is.”

Diego Costa may not be in Mou's plans for at least two more weeksDiego Costa talks to MourinhoCosta will undergo new evaluations to assess what happens next. He will most likely miss the game against Manchester on April 18 and most likely do the same when Chelsea faces Arsenal which is currently in second, seven points behind.
