The French striker left the Sevilla custodian motionless on the floor before being stretchered off, and walked away from the challenge without even a booking.

Real Madrid recorded their 54th point of the season as the league leaders fought to a hard-earned 2-1 win over Sevilla in yet another win in La Liga, with James Rodriguez and Jese netting first half goals against Los Hispalenses to seal the victory.

Los Blancos' 23-year-old Colombian attacker opened the scoring at the Bernabeu, connecting with a cross from Marcelo to score a towering in the 12th minute to break the deadlock. 15 minutes later, after succumbing to injury, the former Monaco ace made way for Jese, who doubled Real Madrid's lead in the 36th minute.

Unai Emery's crew grabbed a consolidation goal through Iago Aspas in the 80th minute, setting up a tense last ten minutes. However, Ancelotti's side held on, seeing out the remainder of the game to walk away from Saturday's tie with all three points.

A rather straightforward, clean game, the match did however experience a moment of madness involving Karim Benzema and Beto, which witnessed the French forward knocking out the Sevilla goalkeeper.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper was carried of the pitch on a stretcher after only 35 minutes of play when Benzema, in an attempt to meet with a cross on the counter, collided with the goalkeeper, leaving him motionless on the floor.

On a positive note, the match, a tight affair, saw Cristiano Ronaldo complete his two-match ban for his slap on Cordoba ace Edimar. This will come as a big relief for the 10-time Champions League winners, who were a times lacking in attack in the absence of the Ballon d'Or winner.

The 29-year-old Portuguese star will be hoping to hit the ground running in Les Merengues' next game, a thrilling Madrid derby with defending champions Atletico Madrid. However, Real Madrid may be without Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, and James Rodrigue for Saturday's trip to the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
