The January transfer window has not seen too many big moves so far, but rumors in the media haven't stopped making rounds.

This Wednesday, something crazy is making waves: a rumored move for Lionel Messi from Barcelona to Manchester United. This suggested transfer is not set to happen anytime soon but the English press claims that the Red Devils "lead the race to sign La Pulga".

How strange would such a move be, given that Messi is sponsored by Adidas and that his greatest rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, is widely idolized by Manchester United fans. If this rumour sounds outrageous, the English press has also come out to back it with numbers.

It is understood that Lionel Messi's astronomical transfer fee and wages will not be met by Chelsea and not even by Manchester City, due to Financial Fair Play rules. That being said, Louis Van Gaal's side is potentially the favourite to become Lionel Messi's first ever Premier League destination.

Watch the video below for a detailed explanation by Football Daily, concerning this latest rumour. The video includes a round up of today's latest transfer news featuring Wilfried Bony's expected move to the Etihad Stadium and Mario Balotelli's link with Italian Serie A giants Juventus.
