The EPL has been missed! Only three weeks after kicking off, the current season had to be interrupted by the international break. English stars like Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck resume club football on a positive note, thanks to wins against Norway and Switzerland.
However, the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying campaign is far from reaching its climax and friendly matches aren’t necessarily exciting for the majority of fans. So how great is it for fervent English Premier League followers to get back into the groove with a thrilling clash at the Emirates Stadium in Saturday’s lunch time kick-off?
Only Chelsea and Swansea City possess a perfect record so far. One of these two teams will be forced to give up on its 100 per cent run as Stamford Bridge will host the Swans in one of six afternoon kick-offs on Saturday.
The evening showdown takes place at Anfield with Aston Villa looking to remain unbeaten after defeating Stoke City and Hull City. The Villans have conceded only one goal so far whereas the Merseyside Reds have already bagged four. Coach Brendan Rodgers will want his players to remain focused although everyone in the camp is understandably excited about next Tuesday’s long-awaited return to Champions League football.
A packed Saturday will be followed by a single fixture on Sunday as Manchester United will host Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford. All eyes will be on Radamel Falcao and the rest of the Red Devils squad to gun down newly-promoted side QPR. Interestingly, the Hoops seat two places above Louis van Gaal’s fourteenth-placed team.
The Tigers of Hull and the Hammers of West Ham will close the fourth round of fixtures in the 2014/15 EPL season.
