Yedlin’s performance during the recent World Cup in Brazil caught the eye of many clubs but the North-London side seems to have taken the lead to sign him.

After a couple of weeks of rumors and speculations, a deal seems to have been agreed between the MLS club Seattle Sounders and Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs for the transfer of DeAndre Yedlin. The international defender saw action as a sub with the USMNT during the last World Cup against Portugal, Germany and Belgium, where he demonstrated his quality with solid performances.

The rumors became a reality after the 21-year-old did not even make the 18-man roster list last night when Seattle won 2-0 against Houston Dynamo at the CenturyLink field. Regarding this, Sounders coach Sigi Schmid stated: "DeAndre is overseas right now". Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer also had his word on this last week when he confirmed that they were working toward a potential transaction.

Although the transfer fee hasn’t been disclosed yet, English sources report that Spurs will lash out around $3.1m to complete his signing. One of the requests from Seattle to agree for the transfer was that they could get the player on loan until December so he can finish the MLS season as the Sounders are looking as potential title contenders.

Yedlin would be joining experienced American goalkeeper Brad Friedel at Tottenham.
