A Round of 16 clash will see France and Nigeria go head to head at the Estádio Nacional de Brasília on Monday, the 30th of June.

France were one of the best sides of the group stages and will now be hoping to carry their good form to the next round. Les Bleus scored eight goals in their first two matches but could not get any on the board in their final match against Ecuador which ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw.

PSG midfielder Yohan Cabaye has urged his teammates to not get ahead of themselves and continue to perform with the same mentality if they are to get anything out of the tournament. He also warned the players not to take Nigeria lightly.

"We have come a long way considering we almost didn't make it to Brazil, so we should not get ahead of ourselves," Cabaye said.

"The fact we showed our quality in the group stage obviously should make us more confident but not arrogant, otherwise we are going to have major problems."

"We are bidding to progress on Monday and go as far as possible but we must do that with the same mentality, determination and quality we have shown so far.

"We are going to play a very good team and if we lose we must accept that. There is little use in putting extra pressure on ourselves and adding weight to our expectations."

"It is good to be ambitious but winning the World Cup is not easy as one can see by the good teams that have already been eliminated."

"I respect Nigeria, though we can beat them, but to say we are going to win the World Cup one has to be careful. There is still a long way to go."

The former Newcastle midfielder will be in contention for a starting berth having served his one match suspension after receiving two yellow cards. However Didier Deschamps will have a number of injuries to deal with.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho was lucky to avoid punishment after he struck his elbow on Oswaldo Minda’s face trying to win an aerial battle, however the 24 year old might not be able to take part after picking up a hamstring injury. This has put France in a little defensive crisis with Arsenal man Laurent Koscielny recovering from an Achilles tendon injury which should keep him out of the match. Eliaquim Mangala might thus be required to partner Raphael Varane at the heart of the defence whereas new Manchester City signing Bacary Sagna could also be fielded at centre back.

Nigeria apart from a few off the field scuffles after the Super Eagles were involved in a prize money controversy, also have a few injury concerns to deal with. Midfielder Michael Babatunde suffered a horror injury in the match against Argentina and might not feature again in the illustrious tournament. Chelsea star Victor Moses has been suffering from injury niggles which have restricted him to just a single appearance in the competition so far and the 23 year old might be forced to watch Monday’s game from the bench again.

However Stephen Keshi’s side is well equipped upfront and all of Peter Odemwingie, Emmanuel Emenike and the inform Ahmed Musa are expected to start.
