Argentina vs Costa Rica Match Preview
Strange. Argentina vs Costa Rica is not a match in which the Albiceleste can relax with quarter-finals tickets already in their hands...

Gutted and now under more pressure to win. Messi and co left the field confused after the Colombia draw.
It’s not the final of the 2011 Copa America. It’s just a group stage match—a Group A encounter on the third day of the tournament, to be precise. But the importance of this game is way bigger than anyone would have thought before the Copa America kicked off.
Two matches, two draws, two points. What is wrong with the hosts who have an enviable and exceptional squad of stars? The greatest irony lies in the fact that Argentina’s attacking line is, on paper, superior to their defensive line. Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Angel di Mari, Lavezzi…
Many would argue that this is the Albiceleste’s best generation of forwards. So where are the goals if, just as Sergio Batista insists, there is absolutely no change needed in Argentina's formation?
In contrast, whereas Messi and company were expected to click upfront against Colombia, it was Sergio Romero who displayed a MOTM performance in Argentina’s goalless draw. But the Argentines are not playing in the 2011 Copa America to defend or to work out damage limitation.
Well, things are definitely not going according to planned for the hosts and Costa Rica now presents them with a do-or-die mission. But coach Sergio Batista has demanded panic to be dropped and belief to be kept.
“I remain confident about these players, they are are very good,” Batista told the press after the miserable 0-0 draw against Colombia.
“We're a little slow in the front… But this does not require major change. We will play with two defensive midfielders and maybe one more winger. I think one man is missing in the area.
“We have a game against Costa Rica, and we can have five points to qualify. We need to keep calm, think it is a final and come out with this mentality.”
Costa Rica, meanwhile, don’t have much to lose. But don’t rule them out from causing an upset to the host nation and their multitude of avid supporters. The Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba is the ground which may soak tears of joy or tears of pain from Argentina’s superstars…
