AS Roma vs Fiorentina Match Preview

Roma and Fiorentina will battle it out at the Olimpico in a game that would ordinarily be between two over-achievers. While both teams are enjoying something of a resurgence, there is no denying that on the whole both have endured disappointing seasons.

Roma's victory against Lazio, which came courtesy of two penalties, does not mask their pervasive problems. Similarly, while Fiorentina beat Chievo this past weekend, they cannot afford to lose this game and slip back into a sequence of unfavourable results.

Alberto Gilardino and Adrian Mutu will be in attack for Fiorentina while Roma will have Mirko Vucinic and Marco Borriello in their front-line.

Prediction: 1-0 Roma.

AS Roma vs Fiorentina Match Report

Roma and Fiorentina played out an entertaining 3-2 scoreline at the Olimpico.

Simplicio scored for Roma right before half-time, and Marco Borriello added one more six minutes after the restart.

Yet, Fiorentina were determined and halved the deficit through Alberto Gilardino.

The third Roma goal, however, sunk Viola spirits. Artur Boruc, deputizing for Sebastian Frey, came to clear the ball, but missed completely, allowing Simone Perrotta to ease the ball into an empty net.

D'Agostino's late goal for Fiorentina was not enough.
