Inter Milan vs Udinese Match Preview
After their disappointing stalemate with Bologna on the opening day of the new season, Inter will host Udinese in a bid to take maximum points. Thier cross-city cousins opened their account with a resounding 4-0 win over Lecce, and though it is early days yet, Inter coach Rafael Benitez will want to avoid falling further behind Milan.
Benitez will rely on playmaker Wesley Sneijder and Goran Pandev to perform the creative duties behind Diego Milito, the hero of last year's Champions League Final. Inter do not slip up in general, but in particular they are insurmountable at home, a quality that should boost their confidence for tomorrow's game.
Udinese will play Antonio Di Natale up front, as Gokhan Inler, Inter's summer target that never transfered, Giampaolo Pinzi, Asamoah and Pasquale will make up the midfield.
Inter will be looking for an important win, and they should get it at home, even if it may be far from emphatic. 1-0 Inter.
Inter Milan vs Udinese Match Report
Inter beat Udinese 2-1 as coach Rafael Benitez notched his first win as coach of the Italian and European champions. It took 7 minutes to break the deadlock, as Inter's Lucio slotted home a loose ball in the area with a well-place shot. Floro Flores, however, equalized 24 minutes later, rising highest to meet an Antonio Di Natale corner.
After the break, Udinese could have stolen the lead, but Flores, played brilliantly on goal by Sanchez, contrived to shoot over from a promising position. For all of Inter's famed efficiency in carving out and taking chances, it took a penalty for them to take the lead. Angella blatantly handled a Wesley Sneijder cross in the 65th minute to leave the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Samuel Eto'o saw his penalty saved, but he made no mistake from the rebound.
The 2-1 win for Inter means they now have 4 points from their first two games, a respectable total for Benitez.
