Bafana Bafana have played a considerable number of friendly matches since the start of this year. They kicked off with a 3-0 win against Zimbabwe on January 27 before playing a disappointing 1-1 draw against Namibia. On March 30, they held South American side Paraguay to a draw and drew again against Korea DPR.
Following the fans' criticism of the team's performance, a string of good results followed. South Africa won a couple of friendly matches. One of those included a 4-0 thrashing of Thailand on May 16. Earlier this week, Bafana Bafana also drew 1-1 against Bulgaria. Knowing that time is running out for the country to be ready for the 2010 World Cup, the players are expected to put up a good show against Colombia and eventually win the game.
Colombia have nothing really to play for as they haven't qualified for the finals of the World Cup. However, it will be a honor for them to take something away from the competition's hosts. On paper, Alberto Parreira's side should win the game. But games aren't always won on paper, although this time, South Africans would like logic to decide the game in their favor.
