With Xabi Alonso out of reach, Liverpool's search for their new coach could end sooner than expected following recent developments.

Liverpool's search for a new tactician will not be easy, but there have been some recent developments that give their fans cause for hope.

The club had earmarked Xabi Alonso as Jürgen Klopp's replacement, but the Spanish tactician will not leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season. Other options such as Roberto De Zerbi or Simone Inzaghi seem to be far away from their reach, but one of their main alternatives has suddenly become available thanks to a buyout clause.

Liverpool had already included Sporting's coach Ruben Amorim in their shortlist, and now, the club has found out the amount of money they would need to pay to hire the 39-year-old. At $15M, the price for Amorim's services seems payable for Liverpool, although the club seems willing to negotiate to try and lower that amount.

This will be the first of many negotiations that will need to be taken care of by incoming sporting director Richard Hughes, but everyone knows it will be crucial to keep the Reds fighting for the top spots in the English top-flight.
