Eleven days to the big kick-off of America's first team sports competition to take place since the Covid-19 pandemic halted sporting events in the country, the NWSL released the full schedule for the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.
The tournament, which features all nine teams from the National Women's Soccer League, is scheduled to commence on June 27 with reigning NWSL champions North Carolina Courage taking on Portland Thorns FC at 12:30 PM ET. Just like the final match on July 26, the opening game will be available to watch in the USA on both CBS and CBS All Access.
Orlando Pride vs Chicago Red Stars will conclude this historic day in US sports and Women's Football. The two sides will lock horns at 10:00 PM ET.
There will be a total of 18 preliminary matches -- all hosted at the Zions Bank Stadium -- with Houston Dash vs Washington Spirit closing the first phase of the NWSL Challenge Cup via a 10:00 PM ET kick-off on July 13.
The four best ranked sides will then advance to the quarter-finals which will be played out on July 17 and 18. In the semi-finals, both fixtures will happen on the same day; on July 22, precisely, at the Rio Tinto Stadium. The final will be broadcast live from 12:30 PM ET on Sunday, July 26.
Reminder: the NWSL Challenge Cup will be available outside the United States and Canada, and without geo-restrictions, on the league's Twitch channel @NWSLofficial.
