One of the biggest talking points ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final is the run-in between Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho. In what could be their final encounter, the Italian boss will lock horns with the Special One in their final game of the season.
The current and former Blues bosses have endured a tense relationship since their first Premier League clash, a 4-0 loss for the Man United tactician. Their feud only got worse and worse from that day, with Conte slamming his counterpart as “a little man” after a heated war-of-words.
When asked about his relationship with the Red Devils manager in a press conference for the Wembley game, Antonio gave a diplomatic response. The Italian insisted that he enjoys a “normal” bond with Jose and even revealed that he will shake hands with his rival.
"Tomorrow I will shake his hand and both of us will think of the game,” Conte said, as per BBC Sport.
"It is not important what happened [previously]. There is a normal relationship between me and him."
Things could easily get tense between the two managers, as this is the only chance for both to end the campaign with silverware. Despite finishing second in the league, Man United struggled to keep up with Man City and crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Sevilla. Chelsea, on the other hand, finished outside the top four and will thus ply their trade in the Europa League next term.
This game will be of extra importance for the Blues boss, as this will likely be his final game in charge of the London giant. While he remained tight-lipped about his Stamford Bridge future, his departure from the England capital is now inevitable.
