The German giant's plan for revenge against Los Blancos has been rocked.

While the Bundesliga title race may be wrapped and over, there remains a lot to play for in the Champions League for Bayern Munich. The German giant has made it into the semi-final but faces a stiff opposition in the form of Real Madrid.

And to make things worse, the Bavarians has suffered a huge blow ahead of that game. The club announced that key midfielder Arturo Vidal has suffered a knee injury which puts his availability under huge doubt.

The Chilean ace hurt himself during training after slipping, as revealed Jupp Heynckes. The midfielder had to be stretchered off the pitch with the help of Franck Ribery and the club's goalkeeping coach as a result.

Speaking to the media shortly after, Heynckes revealed that Vidal will undergo a minor surgery. This does not only cast a cloud of doubt over the player’s participation in the first leg but the second leg also.

"Arturo tripped without any contact from anyone and now has a loose body in his knee joint," the Bayern manager said (as per Marca).

"He now needs a small procedure and will be out of action for the time being.

"What we know though is that Arturo is a fighter and I'm confident about his recovery."

The first leg will be played at the Allianz Arena and will be held on April 25. The Bundesliga champion will then make the trip to Santiago Bernabeu the week after.

Bayern Munich will be hoping to inflict revenge for their controversial elimination last season at the hands of Los Blancos. They were knocked out of the Champions League last term in the Spanish capital, with Vidal getting sent off. This latest blow will make that difficult, however.
