Man United is not willing to let David De Gea go unless for the right money, slapping a record asking price on the goalkeeper. This is according to Marca (as per the Mirror), claiming Real Madrid knows how much they must cough up to land the Spaniard.
The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper has constantly been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu even after his 2015 move collapsed. Los Blancos is in search for an improvement on Keylor Navas and is a known admirer of the Red Devils ace.
However, if his Santiago Bernabeu move was to happen, the Premier League giant will not let him go for anything cheap. The Old Trafford side would want a staggering $123m fee for the 27-year-old.
This means De Gea would shatter the record for most expensive goalkeeper. That title currently belongs to Ederson, but the Red Devils’ asking price is more than twice what Man City paid for their Brazilian custodian.
This asking price is believed to have come directly from the Glazer family. This means a penny less and they will reject the offer.
The Spaniard is one of – if not the – best players at the Theatre of Dreams. His quick reflex has saved Mourinho’s men on several occasions this season, thus earning plaudits for his displays in between the sticks.
It should be noted that the goalkeeper, who has 18 months left on his current deal, is reportedly happy with life in Manchester. This means his biggest concern right now is Sunday’s clash with Chelsea in the Premier League and not a move away from England.
