The French boss also aimed a dig at Valencia's boss, who criticized Real Madrid's squad for this season in an radio interview.

Real Madrid fans need to trust their team, especially if the man who led them to all their titles in the past couple of years still believes in his players.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference for the game against Borussia Dortmund, Zinedine Zidane referred to the team's slow start of the season, the poor form displayed by some of his players, and also named the reasons why critics should refrain from crossing them out as the possible title winners by the end of the season.

"I see things that maybe most people can't. They can say whatever they want, and sometimes I feel they've forgotten about all the things we've done. As the team's coach, I know it's not the ideal scenario, but we'll keep improving and by the end of the season, we'll be there fighting to win it all," Zidane stated.

The former Ballon D'Or winner also demanded respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, who's only been able to score two goals in the domestic competition.

"Cristiano deserves a bit more respect. He's one of the best out there, and that's the weight he needs to carry when things are not going well. We're halfway through the season, there are six months left, and having six months left with Cristiano playing for us is a lot of time," the coach added.

Before the interview concluded, Zidane wasted no time to defend his squad from the words spoken by Valencia's boss, Marcelino García, who stated in a radio show that Real Madrid's squad wasn't as powerful as last season.

"I don't care what he says. I don't have to answer to each and everyone who talks about this team. He's entitled to have an opinion, but it's my right to ignore him," Zidane concluded.
