Chelsea hoping to rebound...whilst Tottenham aim to overcome Wembley hoodoo

Chelsea

It was nothing short of a disaster at Stamford Bridge, and an afternoon many Chelsea fans will want to forget in a hurry. Despite trying to rally back, the Blues left their supporters feeling blue and Antonio Conte more than red in the face as Burnley managed to hang on to shockingly win 3-2. To complicate matters, both Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were sent off, meaning that two key players will miss out on this already-difficult match due to suspension.

Victor Moses, meanwhile, will make his return after missing out on the Burnley tie after serving his own ban. However, Eden Hazard and Pedro are facing a race against time to be declared fit for the clash, and the absence of Fabregas could mean that new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko may have to make his debut a bit sooner than Conte had planned. The sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United has left Chelesa really shorn of options in the middle of the park and Bakayoko himself has been undergoing a specialized recovery programme to get him fit for the grueling season ahead. Still, it's hard to imagine either Bakayoko or Hazard being rushed back into the starting XI so early on in the campaign.

Up front, fellow new signing Alvaro Morata will be likely his first full start after grabbing a goal and an assist during Chelsea's loss at Stamford Bridge last weekend shortly after replacing Michy Batshuayi.

Tottenham

Tottenham, by contrast, earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over recently promoted Newcastle United last weekend. It was an overall solid performance by Mauricio Pochettino's men on the road, and they now will take on Chelsea at Wembley, a ground which has not exactly brought them the best of fortunes.

In fact, since beating Chelsea in the 2008 FA Cup final, Tottenham have managed to win just one out of their last nine games at the famous football ground. Obviously, Pochettino will be seeking to overcome that long, frustrating hoodoo in Sunday's much anticipated clash. Whilst he will be missing both Erik Lamela and Danny Rose, overall, the Argentinian coach does not have the same major worries in terms of selection as his tacticial opponent. Both Victor Wanyama and Heung-min Son are expected to return to the fold after being on the bench during Spurs' win over Newcastle last weekend, further bolstering an already strong squad keen on dealing their fellow London rivals another heavy blow.

Will Tottenham banish their Wembley hoodoo and further dent Chelsea's confidence this weekend?
