About Scotland - Premier League

The Scottish Premier League is Scotland's top professional football league competition. It was founded in 1998, and it currently consists of 12 clubs. The Scottish Premier League season, or SPL season, runs between August and May, and each team plays all the others thrice. At the end of each season, the lowest team gets relegated into the Scottish First Division. The winner of the SPL automatically enters the UEFA Champions League group stage, though the second-placed team enters the Champions League's second qualifying round. The 3rd and 4th placed teams get a chance of participating into the UEFA Europa League, along with the Scottish Cup Champion.
