As of August 17, 2013, SPEED TV is now Fox Sports 1. Speed is an American sports channel, which was formerly known as Speed Channel, and originally as Speedvision. Although the USA version of the channel was launched in January 1996, a version for Australia was launched in November 2010, with the ownership split between News Corporation and Premier Media Group. For USA, the picture format is 480i (SDTV/16:9 letterbox) / 720p (HDTV), but it changes to 576i (SDTV) / 1080i (HDTV) for Australia. It is available via Satellite on DirecTV, Dish Network, Foxtel (Australia), Austar (Australia), Bell TV, Shaw Direct, Sky Mexico, Sky Brazil, Via Embratel and Dish Mexico. It is also available via Cable on Verizon FiOS, EastLink, Rogers, Foxtel (Australia), Optus TV (Australia) and Xfinity. Likewise, it is available on Bell Fibe TV and TELUS TV for the Canadian audience, while they may also get the channel through AT&T U-Verse.
