The Red Devils host Newcastle this Wednesday and face Brighton over the weekend before their FA Cup final. Fortunately, one key player has returned from injury in time for this run.

Manchester United have endured a rough 2024 but the English giants have received a huge boost ahead of their final few games of the season.

The Red Devils, who have been without any senior center-back recently besides Jonny Evans due to injury, have welcomed one key player back to the squad ahead of their clash with Newcastle.

That player is Lisandro Martinez, the popular center-back who played a crucial role in the club's impressive 2023-24 campaign in which they finished third and reached two cup finals, winning one.

The 26-year-old has struggled with injuries all season, making only 11 appearances for the club this term. The former Ajax ace featured in Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Brentford back in March but suffered a calf strain immediately after and has been out since.

Ten Hag confirmed that his player will be in the squad for Wednesday's clash with Newcastle and while he is unlikely to start, this is a huge boost ahead of their final home game of the season and the fast-approaching FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month.

The Red Devils are currently eighth in the table but are only three points behind seventh-placed Chelsea and sixth-placed Newcastle. Victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25th would secure Ten Hag's men a spot in the UEFA Europa League but that would be a huge ask given their form and that of Guardiola's men. As a result, the 20-time English champions must give it their all to finish ahead of the Magpies and the Blues, thus making Wednesday's game a must-win tie.
