Sportsnet Secures Long-Term Extension for FA Cup Until 2018
TORONTO, ON (May 4, 2012) – Sportsnet today announced it has reached a six-year multiplatform extension for the FA Cup through the 2017-18 season, maintaining the network’s hold as Canada’s premier destination for the world’s biggest soccer events. The new deal delivers multimedia rights for up to 59 matches per year on television, online and mobile. The FA Cup is England’s most historic club competition, highlighted by some of the world’s best club teams including Manchester United and Arsenal.
Today’s announcement comes on the eve of the highly-anticipated 2012 FA Cup Final featuring Chelsea vs. Liverpool, airing this Saturday, May 5 on Sportsnet World. The action gets underway with the pre-game show at 11:15 a.m. ET / 8:15 a.m. PT.
Sportsnet Secures Canadian Broadcast Rights for UEFA Europa League
TORONTO, ON (April 16, 2012) – Sportsnet announced today it has secured the Canadian multimedia rights to UEFA Europa League for the next three seasons, solidifying Sportsnet as Canada’s home to the world’s most prestigious soccer events. The new agreement includes 205 UEFA Europa Cup (formerly called UEFA Cup) matches each season, which will be delivered to Canadians on a suite of multimedia rights – television, online and mobile. Additionally, through Sportsnet’s agreement with TVA Sports, the deal also includes expanded French-language coverage across the same platforms with a minimum of 15 matches to be broadcast on TVA Sports per season.

TORONTO (March 29, 2012) – One win and Canada books a trip to London. Sportsnet’s coverage of the 2012 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament continues with the semifinal showdown between Canada and Mexico on Saturday, March 31 at 8:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. PT live on Sportsnet East, West, Ontario and Pacific as the winner qualifies for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Coverage begins with a 30-minute SOCCER CENTRAL pre-show featuring Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest teeing up the do-or-die match from Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, KS. Dobson and Forrest will call the Canada and Mexico match while Tony Ambrogio joins the duo in Kansas City as sideline reporter. With a win or draw on Monday night, Canada will advance to the tournament semifinals on Saturday, March 31 in Kansas City. The winners in the semifinals will automatically clinch a berth to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Sportsnet secures 3-year UEFA Champions League extension
TORONTO, ON (March 15, 2012) – Sportsnet today announced it has reached a three-year partnership extension with UEFA through the 2014-15 season, continuing the network’s status as Canada’s home of UEFA Champions League soccer.
The new agreement features a comprehensive suite of multimedia rights including television, online and mobile, which includes the rights to broadcast 146 matches on Sportsnet. Additionally, through Sportsnet’s agreement with TVA Sports, the deal also includes expanded French-language coverage across the same platforms with a minimum of 34 matches to be broadcast on TVA Sports per season.
Sportsnet Announces Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2012 Broadcast Schedule
Coverage kicks off on Saturday, Mar. 17 at 8:30 p.m. MT / 7:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet Pacific and Sportsnet West as Vancouver visits Chivas USA.
Sportsnet’s Whitecaps FC broadcast schedule includes 16 games on Sportsnet Pacific, four games on Sportsnet ONE and two games on Citytv Vancouver. As announced earlier this year, Sportsnet named former Vancouver and national team goalkeeper Paul Dolan as the new analyst for its Vancouver Whitecaps FC Major League Soccer match broadcasts.
Dolan will join play-by-play announcer Craig MacEwen in the broadcast booth to call all of Sportsnet’s Vancouver Whitecaps FC telecasts for the 2012 season, and will appear as a soccer analyst on Connected with Don Taylor on Sportsnet Pacific.

At the same time, Sportsnet World will have the Lyon and APOEL match. Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest will preview both match-ups followed by the post-game show.
The Round of 16 resumes on Wednesday, Feb. 15 when Zenit hosts Benfica at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT on Sportsnet World followed by the AC Milan and Arsenal match at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific.
