The defensive midfielder has returned to the club to help them in their fight to return to the Argentine top-flight.
Experienced defensive midfielder Leonardo Ponzio returned to Argentine giants River Plate after signing a three-year deal with the club on Saturday. The former Real Zaragoza captain decided to join the club to help them return to the Argentine first division.
Ponzio, 29, became River Plate's second reinforcement of the Summer after former Juventus scoring-machine David Trezeguet, who penned a three and a half year deal with the club in late December.
River Plate, who were relegated to the Argentine second division for the first time in their entire 110-year history last year, have invested in high-quality players in an attempt to regain their status as a 'big' Argentine club.
Kaka is adamant about staying at the Santiago Bernabeu after he squashed speculation linking him with a move to Inter Milan.

Kaka's speculated departure from Real Madrid has been one of hotly debated topic in recent times but while there has been some reported interest from Inter Milan, Kaka believe that his future lies nowhere but with Madrid.
“Frankly, my wish is to stay. Before I came to Brazil, Mourinho and the leaders at Madrid told me to spend a quiet holiday ahead of the pre-season.
"They knew that there would be lot of speculation because there have been rumours ever since I arrived [at Madrid]. But I really want to stay and I will stay.”
It’s not all smiles at Inter at the moment. The Nerazzurri seemed to be doing very well under Coach Leonardo until they recently lost to Milan in the Serie A and to Schalke in the Champions League.
Suddenly, Inter’s future this season hangs between the uncertainty of achieving success and the enormous prospect of being trapped into failure. Last weekend’s total fiasco in the Derby della Madonnina downed Internazionale onto the third place in Italy’s Serie A table and 5 points behind league leaders AC Milan.
Perhaps, all is not lost for the Nerazzurri. After all, as Live Soccer TV explained here the other time, the Rossoneri may well lose some points in their upcoming matches –which involve AS Roma, Sampdoria and Udinese. However, as they aim to retain the Scudetto, how confident must Inter be about relying on Milan’s possible mistakes in the closing stages of the Serie A?
The defending European champions will come up against the Miners in the Inter Milan vs Schalke match this evening, and even without the Special One Mourinho, Inter still have a chance to triumph.

The Serie A title holders were metamorphosed into an untouchable side last season, after they grabbed the treble under the leadership of Coach Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager led the club to their third European title, and their journey to continental success was not the easiest one of all. Inter faced superpowers Barcelona, Chelsea and Bayern Munich on their way to the top, yet in some ways, they were just too commanding for their giant opponents.
After Mourinho left Inter Milan to take on new duties at Real Madrid, the Italians began to sink under the direction of former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez. Unsatisfying results in the league and lack of buoyancy eventually pushed the club’s leaders to elect a new manager: Leonardo.
Coach Leonardo saw his team fall 3-0 to Milan last weekend in the Derby della Madonnina. So why is he so confident ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final match – Inter Milan vs Schalke?
Put it that way: Saturday night was disastrous for Internazionale at the San Siro in the Serie A. And to think that they’ll have to play at the same venue on Tuesday in Europe makes things even more intriguing.
Let’s also remember that the last time Inter played at home in the UEFA Champions League, the result was a poor one; they actually lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.
However, they managed to make it through to the quarter-finals of the competition by bouncing back in dramatic fashion. Yes, because Coach Leonardo is an expert at guiding Inter through comebacks and he knows he and his men have that special touch.
“There’s bitterness [within us following the defeat to Milan]. This is what happens when you lose. Now, we have another game.
Coach Leonardo has interestingly downplayed the importance of Saturday’s AC Milan vs Inter derby whereas everyone around him portrays it as the Scudetto’s decider. Live Soccer TV tackles this topic.

It is true that nothing is over until it is over and that points get counted at the end of the road in football. However, mathematical possibilities don’t always defeat realism. If Inter fall 5 points behind AC Milan on Saturday with a defeat, it won’t mathematically rule out Leonardo’s team as potential title winners since there will then be 7 more matches to go.
However, football fans will expect AC Milan to keep matters in their own hands at the disadvantage of the then-wounded Nerazzurri. So isn’t it normal to view this weekend’s derby as the ultimate title decider?
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's suspension from AC Milan vs Internazionale and the reunion between Coach Leonardo and the Rossoneri is set to make Saturday's derby an even more interesting issue.
Inter coach Leonardo will affront AC Milan for the first time in his career with fans counting on his tones of knowledge about the Rossoneri to play the trick. But how will Milan protect themselves on Saturday without ex-Internazionale striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Live Soccer TV wonders if the absence of the suspended forward will negatively affect AC Milan.
AC Milan vs Internazionale Puts Leonardo In The Cooking Pot...
From the grass, to the desk, to the training camps... Leonardo knows so much about AC Milan after being there as a player, a director and a head-coach. On Saturday, the Brazilian will become one of the many people who experienced a renegade through the Derby della Madonnina. Indeed, Leonardo’s memories of his career with the Rossoneri may fill up many pages if written down in details. But how will they weight when AC Milan and Internazionale will clash at the San Siro this weekend?
The tension is high ahead of Bayern Munich vs Inter. However, Live Soccer TV offers you to release a bit of stress with a little sense of humour.
Bayern Munich vs Inter is a huge game for both teams involved and preparations ahead of this UEFA Champions League Last 16 match are enormous as well. Each interview has created a new headline in the news, but Live Soccer TV now suggests you to have all those at one place.
We look at the top 10 quotes from the people that will contribute in celebrating European football at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night. What do the following quotes reveal? Which team seems to be the most focussed and confident? Bayern Munich or Internazionale?
Inter Coach Leonardo To The Press:
“Now is the time, and the players know it. [On Tuesday], it will be a great battle and we will do everything to go through.”
Coach Leonardo will guide Internazionale at home to Bayern Munich in his Champions League debut with the Nerazzurri. The ex-Milan man says that he’s not carrying any pressure ahead of tonight’s game.

“I don’t feel the weight of my debut in the Champions League with Inter,” Leonardo said as he spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I am not afraid of anything. After all, my team and I are the champions of the competition and we want to repeat our triumph.
“On the night [of the 2010 Champions League final] in Madrid last year I cheered for Inter.”
This year, Leonardo is confident of experiencing what ex-Inter manager Jose Mourinho enjoyed last season: to taste UEFA Champions League glory. The Nerazzurri may not be the favourites this term, but Coach Leonardo is not looking at this factor.
Louis van Gaal disregarded Inter’s style of play ahead of tonight’s Champions League match at the San Siro. But Coach Leonardo has now come out to warn Bayern Munich of a "champion team" performance from Inter.

The Inter coach will be making his debut in the Champions League with the Nerazzurri and he wants his men to play some good attacking football. Leonardo has been left with only two forwards at his disposal – Samuel Eto’o and Goran Pandev.
However, his confidence hasn’t been affected as he expects Inter to play like Champions and to make the most of the competition’s special atmosphere. In a long encounter with the press, Coach Leonardo commentated on his club’s Last 16 match against Bayern Munich and on the UEFA Champions League in general. He explained:
Internazionale’s new manager Leonardo is yet to execute his duties on the pitch. But the atmosphere is already building itself rather well to kill off pressure.

Unlike it was for Rafael Benitez, Coach Leonardo has already received the backing of former Inter Milan boss and two-time treble winner Jose Mourinho. Now Al-Ahli Dubai’s Fabio Cannavaro – who captained Italy’s national football team to World Cup glory in 2006 – has endorsed Internazionale’s newcomer.
Italian news agency, La Gazzetta dello Sport, quoted the ex-Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid defender as saying concerning the sacking of Rafael Benitez which followed with the appointment of Leonardo:
Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho aka the ‘Special One’ has once again spoken to the media. The former Inter Milan coach has publicly given his support to the Nerazzurri’s new boss, Leonardo.

Following his appointment last weekend, Leonardo has now become Rafael Benitez’s successor. Now whereas Mourinho seemed to have a sour relationship with Rafa, he is showing a different attitude towards Internazionale’s new man in charge, Coach Leonardo.
Ahead of Wednesday event where he will officially be unveiled as the boss of Massimo Moratti’s side, Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho has asked people to consider the newcomer with a positive eye. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the “Special One” declared as he addressed himself to Inter Milan’s public:
Internazionale have sacked Rafael Benitez, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian giants are one step away from appointing AC Milan’s former coach, Leonardo.

It is believed that Benitez received his verdict via e-mail through a note from Inter Milan’s lawyer. If the news about the sacking is true, it means that the ex-Valencia and Liverpool would have been in charge of Internazionale for only 6 months following his appointment back in June 2010.
Now Italian media Tuttosport have reported that Massimo Moratti eyes Leonardo as his number one target to replace Rafael Benitez who won the Supercoppa Italiana, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Nerazzurri. According to this source, Internazionale should have Leonardo has their new manager by January.
Are the days of Inter Milan's Rafael Benitez already over at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium? Reports from Italy suggest that the Spaniard will soon be ordered to quit his current job.

Ex-AC Milan boss Leonardo could see himself resuming his coaching career at the other side of the San Siro where the atmosphere is filled the blue and black color. It has been reported that Inter Milan’s club president Massimo Moratti is actively looking to part company with Rafael Benitez following last night’s terrible 3-0 loss to Werder Bremen in the Champions League.
According to FCinter1908.it, Leonardo will go into talks with Massimo Moratti to subsequently become Inter Milan’s next manager anytime soon. Meanwhile, Leonardo’s former club – AC Milan – will be in action tonight. The Rossoneri don’t have much to play for really as there’s no way they can go beyond or behind their 2nd position in Group G.
Italy’s Serie A is to go on strike in less than two weeks’ time. The players, who are unhappy about contractual issues, feel it’s time to make their voices heard.

The Italian Serie A is preparing to enter into its 15th match-day this weekend as AC Milan, Lazio, Juventus and Napoli occupy the first 4 places in the table. However, fans will have to deal with a pause in the upcoming week.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Italian Serie A players will go on strike on the 11th and on the 12th of the month of December.
