There was good news for fans of La Liga on Thursday afternoon as the strike got called off. However, the same cannot be said about Serie A football.
They’ll have to wait a bit longer before tuning into their favorite channels for live or delayed 2011/12 Serie A matches. This is because no agreement has been reached between the AIC (the players’ union) and the Lega (the clubs’ union).

The issue is about contractual terms. Clubs have been accused of forcing their players to quit in the last year of their contracts but the Lega also have an accusation against the AIC.

As the BBC reported, it has been understood that clubs want footballers to submit to a new tax policy which will see high earners pay money to the Italian government.

It’s the Derby della Capitale as AS Roma and Lazio will clash in the Italian Serie A, and Roma’s suspended Francesco Totti has already made his point ahead of the match.
The Italian striker has perhaps made the bluntest prediction of the year: the Giallorossi will lose against Lazio in Roma, the Italian striker believes.

The competition in the Serie A is extremely interesting this season as Biancocelesti incredibly lead the way having won 7 of their 9 matches played so far. Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus can only be content with their respective spot behind Lazio whereas local rivals AS Roma are struggling to shine this season.

Their 2-0 victory over Lecce last weekend saw them doing just enough to be in the top half of the Italian Serie A table ahead of this weekend’s derby. However, AS Roma – who are 10 points off Lazio – have lost their talisman in the Lecce match through suspension.
