As the race for the Serie A title gets tighter, all eyes will be on Roma vs Udinese, Milan vs Chievo and Sassoulo vs Juventus on Wednesday

The three games will have a great impact on the overall appearance of the Serie A table regardless of the results of each fixture. Inter Milan are the current Serie A league leaders after their away win against Bologna on Tuesday night. Here is a comprehensive analysis of each fixture and its impact to the Serie A table.

Roma vs Udinese

Roma welcome Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico hoping to regain their lead at the top of the Serie A table after being toppled by Inter Milan. If Rudi Garcia’s men manage to beat Udinese, this will be their fifth consecutive victory in the Serie A . Roma have so far won 6, drawn 2 and lost 1 match this season. The Italian giants also beat Fiorentina 1-2 last weekend in a top of the table clash. With an upcoming trip to the San Siro stadium on Sunday, Roma needs to beat Udinese or risk losing their command at the top of the table.

Udinese on the other hand may seem weaker on paper but are much stronger on the pitch. Stefano Colantuono’s men come into this crucial fixture having beaten Frosinone last weekend by a solitary goal. A win for Udinese could take them to the 10th spot if both Milan, Juventus and Palermo lose their respective matches.

Probable lineups:

Roma: Szczesny, Florenzi, Manolas, Rudiger, Digne, Nainggolan, De Rossi, Pjanic, Gervinho, Dzeko, Salah

Udinese: Karnezis, Wague, Danilo, Felipe, Edenilson, Agyemang-Badu, Lodi, Fernandez, Adnan, Thereau, Di Natale

Milan Vs Chievo

AC Milan registered a dramatic win over visiting Sassuolo over the weekend and are hoping to continue with the good results into their next match against Chievo at the San Siro. Luiz Adriano came off the bench as a substitute on Sunday to fire the home side to a 2-1 win over Sassuolo who had been reduced to 10 men. The last time Chievo beat Milan was back in 2005 with goals from Sergio Pellissier and Simone Tiribocchi cancelling out Kakha Kaladze’s opener. However, Milan could play without M’Baye Niang who is suffering from a fractured metatarsal.

On the other hand, Roland Maran’s men come into this fixture hoping to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat by Napoli last Sunday. This was Chievo’s second consecutive defeat. Maran could be aware of the fact that out of their last 26 meetings with Milan, Chievo have only lost two and drawn 5. The Rossoneri have also not conceded any goal in their last five meetings against Chievo. Interestingly, they have never lost a home game against Chievo in Serie A.

A win for Milan could push them up to the 6th position if Sassuolo, Sampdoria, Torino and Atalata lose their respective games. Since Milan and Chievo sit at the 10th and 11th position on the Serie A table respectively, a draw between the two teams could take Chievo to the 10th position on a superior goal difference.

Probable lineups:

AC Milan: Donnarumma; Abate, Alex, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Kucka, Montolivo, Poli; Cerci, Bacca, Bonaventura

Chievo: Bizzarri, Cacciatore, Gamberini, Cesar, Gobbi, Castro, Pinzi, Rigoni, Pepe, Meggiorini, Paloschi

Sassuolo vs Juventus

Juventus’ Paulo Dybala is the man to watch ahead of the team’s trip to Sassuolo on Wednesday. Dybala scored  on his return to Juventus and the 21-year-old striker will be looking to extend his scoring spree. After making his debut for Agentina earlier this month, the on-form forward steered Juve past Atalanta last weekend with 2-0 victory. Juve wants to rise higher on the Serie A table after a disappointing start but they first need to go past Eusebio Di Francesco’s men, who are unbeaten in seven home league matches. Their last home defeat was 3-0 against Roma back in April.

On-form Dybala could lead Juventus' hunt for goals against Sassuolo on Wednesday night

Sassuolo boasts of having on-form striker Domenico Berardi, who also played for Juventus. He scored a goal in their most recent victory against Lazio at the Mapei Stadium and another in their loss at the San Siro. Juve will miss the services of Roberto Pereyra and Kwadwo Asamoah who have been sidelined due to injury concerns. However, Juve have not lost their last four Serie A games against Sassuolo although the home team boasts of an unbeaten record in their last six home games. Juve, who sit at the 12th position on the log, could replace their midweek opponents at the 6th position with a win only if Torino and Milan lose their respective matches.

Probable lineups:

Sassuolo: Gianluca Pegolo, Sime Vrsaljko, Francesco Acerbi, Paolo Cannavaro, Federico Peluso, Simone Missiroli, Francesco Magnanelli, Alfred Duncan, Domenico Berardi, Gregoire Defrel, Antonio Floro Flores

Juventus: Neto, Andrea Barzagli, Daniele Rugani, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro, Stefano Sturaro, Hernanes, Claudio Marchisio, Juan Cuadrado, Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala
